The Chairman Parliamentary Council, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Ayotunde Fatokun has reiterated the commitment of his administration to continue to develop and empower his people, especially the youths in his constituency with skill acquisition programmes among other schemes in order to make them self sufficient.
Hon. Fatokun who represents Akinyele state constituency 1 in the Assembly said plans have been made to assist and reach out to the youths, women and the people in general.
“I have put people at work to know the critical areas of the need of my people. I have set up a foundation to see to their needs and about 150 youths were first to benefit.
We taught them photography, videography, Bead making, Head gear “Auto Gele” and so on. All these efforts i believe will strengthen them.”
“We have given out soaps, tooth brushes, mosquito nets, hand sanitizers and and a few other things to youths and the people even, teachers also benefitted.
He said the empowerment schemes are in line with his electioneering campaign promises, assuring those who are yet to benefit to be patient as plans are on to extend same gestures to them.
“My plan is to help develop people in my constituency with skill acquisition programmes, and I have been able to pay school fees for nine people in tertiary institution. There is a lot to do as we progress.”
“In terms of my legislative duties I have been honoured as the Outstanding Honourable Member in the Assembly.
According to him, the most important thing for him is how he would bring development to the constituency as a whole.
Hon. Fatokun said plans are also on to ensure the rural areas in his constituency also get their share of dividends of democracy in his administration.
Speaking on the activities of the Assembly since inception, Hon Fatokun said the House has done well regardless of the party differences adding that the main objective of the 9th Assembly is how to bring development to the state as a whole.
“Bearing in mind that majority of us are fresher, from feedback and from the general public, I would say we have tried as a House, we have been working in line with the mandate given to us, and as a House with PDP as the majority, our task is to work for the development of the state.
” I believe in no time, things will improve for the benefit of all..
While commending the state governor for his laudable strides, the lawmaker urged the people of the state to further cooperate and support the ongoing administration in order to enable it deliver an all round development to the state.
