A lawmaker representing Ido state constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Razak Mabaje has distributed food items to persons with disability in Ido constituency as a palliative.
Hon. Mabaje also called on politicians and rich individuals in the country to always assist the less privilege and persons with disability in order to make life meaningful for them.
The legislator made the call while distributing 47 bags of food items containing rice, beans, Semovital and other stuffs to them at the Vocational Centre For Persons with Disability, Apete in Ibadan on Sunday.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the programme, Hon. Mabaje who was ably represented by his personal Assistant, Hon. Segun Adepoju said the gesture was part of its effort to reach out to persons with disability in his constituency and also to compliment the gestures of the state governor on palliatives for the poor.
According to him, it was part of his agenda to always reach out to them in order to give them some supports and means of livelihood.
Hon. Mabaje while admonishing them make good use of the food items giving to them urged them to continue to pray and support his administration and that of governor Seyi Makinde, just as he assured them of more support.
Speaking at the programme, a political leader in Apete ward 4, Hon. Victor Ameh aka Cross commended Hon. Mabaje for the gesture, describing it as laudable.
“We must always consider persons with disability in all we do, government should create an avenue for vocational and skill acquisition for them in order to make them useful to themselves and society.”
Also speaking, the Special Assistant, person with disability in Ido Local Government, Hon. Tijani Adekola thanked the legislator for honouring them with the package, assuring him of their cooperation.
In his comments, first Vice Chairman, Person With Physical Disability, Oyo State Chapter, Chukwuma Ibe described the gesture as very impressive, adding that the development was first of its kind in the constituency.
“I commend him for the support and I pray that God will help to him achieve more success in office. I urge those who are benefiting from the scheme to make good use of the items and always pray for Hon. Mabaje.
Expressing their gratitude, the beneficiaries thanked Hon. Mabaje for the palliatives, just as they described him as a true representative.
