A lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Rafiu Jimoh has urged the state government through the Ministry of Works and Transport to take measures and expedite actions on the rehabilitation of Ido-Eruwa road project for the benefit of people of Ibarapa area and the state in general.
The legislator in his motion under matter of urgent public importance pointed out that the road is a major link in the state capital to Ibarapa axis of the state which covers, Eruwa, Lanlate, Igboora, Igangan, Ayete in Ibarapa East, central and North.
Hon. Jimoh while commending the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi for giving priority to rehabilitation and construction of roads in the state and major cities in Ibadan said the present condition of the roads which is full of potholes, gully and bumps now make movement very harrowing and difficult for motorists plying the road.
“Movement of agricultural produce from this zone of the state has been affecting prices of food stuff in particular.
“It has become urgent and very important that the road be rehabilitated so that Ibarapa axis will not be completely cut off from other parts of the state”.
Hon. Jimoh who represented Ibarapa North/Central constituency in the state Assembly in his motion titled, “Urgent Need To Fast Track The Rehabilitation of Ido-Eruwa Road For Easy Transportation And Enhanced Economic Development of Ibarapa Axis of The State noted that the phase 1 of the road project is about 75 percent completion while the second phase of the contract has been abandoned by the contractor adding that work is not in progress in the area.
“The contractor has evacuated his construction equipment from the site which is an indication that work has been abandoned on the road.”
