The Obong Iberedem Akwa Ibom in Oyo State, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak has admonished Akwa Ibom community residents in the state to be peaceful, orderly, and law-abiding while participating in the upcoming local government election.
The Oyo State local government election is coming up on Saturday, May 22 across the 33 local government areas of the state.
The Monarch gave the admonition on Tuesday in Ibadan, urging members of the Akwa Ibom community on the need to cooperate and support efforts of the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde aimed at fostering more development across the state.
The Obong said Governor Makinde deserved to be commended for deeming it fit to organise the timely local government election targeted to fast-track meaningful developments at the grassroots level across the state.
“I urge you all Akwa Ibomites across the state to be law-abiding, peaceful and orderly while participating in the local government polls coming up on May 22.
“I urge you to go out there and cast your vote peacefully to the candidate of your choice and return home.
“Our God-given governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde is a man of peace and honour, I, therefore, urge you to follow the path of peace as you exercise your franchise at the election,” he said.
The Monarch, who recently inaugurated youths and their leaders in some parts of the state to oversee affairs of Akwa Ibom community, pursuant to peaceful coexistence among other tribes, expressed confidence at the decision of the governor to conduct the election for the development of the grassroots.
Obong Akanyak also admonished security agencies to discharge their duty in line with quality security measures in order to have peaceful polls.
