… reschedules election in Ido LG for May 26

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been declared the winner in the 32 out of the 33 local governments in Oyo State, where election took place on Saturday.
Chairman of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSEIC), Barrister Isiaka Olagunju announced the results on Sunday at the Commission’s headquarters.
Elections in Ido Local Government was rescheduled for May 26, following the omission of Zenith Labour Party logo on the ballot paper.
The returning officer for Ibarapa East, Mr Thompson Ishola explained that hoodlums attacked some polling booths, vandalising all polling units in ward 5 and thereby was forced to cancel the results.
He added that a similar incident occurred in unit 3 of ward 7.
The OYSIEC chairman stated that fresh elections for the councillorship position in the affected ward would be announced soon.
Eighteen political parties participated in the council polls.
The major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not participate due to their inability to meet up with deadline given by the commission for registration of interested party candidates.
