As Muslims all over the world are preparing for another Moon to indicate end of this year Ramadan fasting, the state Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Iskilu Akinsanya has enjoined the Muslim faithful in the State to continue with the lesson of tolerance, peace, forgiveness, and kindness that was hallmark in the month of Ramadan and to shun stigmatization among themselves.
Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya made this statement today at the Command State Headquarters Agodi, Ibadan while addressing the Head of Departments and Units on measure taking by Oyo state government on prevention of the spread of Coronavirus through virtual meeting with his principal officer across the State.
He said Islam is a religion of peace and Holiness, “we have to exhibit cleanliness starting from our place of work as Muslims faithful are preparing for Eid-el fitri.”
The State Commandant called for caution and personal hygiene as a result of increase in numbers of Corona Virus cases in the State and enjoined the Divisional officers across the State to ensure more strict measures to curtail the spread of COVID 19 in their various territory and the state boundary.
“As Muslims are concluding the Ramadan fasting despite the partial lockdown, people will like to move around, let’s make sure we mandate the use of Nose masks at every nook and crannies of the State including social distancing.”
Meanwhile, the State Commandant has called on officers and men of the NSCDC to intensified surveillance and patrol of critical infrastructure, flash spots, shopping mall, government installations and NNPC across the State to forestall criminality and make the State crime free including containment of corona Virus during the Eid-el fitri celebration.
“The State COVID-19 Task Force will soon enforce the compulsory wearing of the face masks since the level of compliance on wearing of face mask was low in Oyo State and erring individuals would be prosecuted and fined N20,000 per person.
“So, don’t let us wait till mobile court is out and we are force to do the right thing as Our health is our wealth.”
Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya implored the general public to cooperate and volunteer information to NSCDC in their neighborhood whenever they suspect any strange movement and person with questionable character or any crime before being committed.
The State Commandant then wishes all Muslim faithful in the State Happy Eid-el fitri celebrations.
