The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and its Disaster Management Unit have deployed Rescue Teams to all Highways in the State to work on measures to curb road accidents in this EMBER MONTHS and also to sensitize the general Public on the Preparation and approach needed on safety during this period of Heavy Rainy Season.
This development was made known by the Commandant of the NSCDC, Iskilu Akinsanya during a lecture organized for officers in disaster Management Units and Intelligence Department of the Command.
Also, the Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) earlier in its forecast of climate change said the rainfall might result to flooding, hence, the awareness Campaign to avert such hazard in our environment.
While addressing residents in Ibadan Metropolis, ACC Sheu Umaru, Head of Disaster Management Unit said that all hands are on deck to put flood incidents under control.
The Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya stated further that the Corps have partnered with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Associations of Nigeria (IPMAN) to sack all illegal domestic cooking Gas Vendors outlets erected in unauthorised location across the state to prevent fire outbreak.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of NSCDC enjoined the people of the State to cooperate by observing all laid down precautions by government which stand against dumping of refuse on the water ways, cleaning of Drainage and adequate disposal of refuse and to observe Covid-19 Protocols.
He also enjoined the people to volunteer information to nip crime in the bud during the ember months.
