Some factions of the Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), believed to belong to Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila aka Auxilari and former chairman of the union, late Taofeek Oyerinde (FELE) clashed today shortly after the swearing in ceremony of governor Seyi Makinde, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, shooting sporadically in some parts of ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Trouble started when members of the Auxiliary faction sighted some members of the union believed to belong to late Fele faction, along Liberty/Oke Ado, Challenge, Iyana Adeoyo , Molete area and others, beat them to a pulp.
The atmosphere became tensed as passersby and residents of the areas took to their heels for the fear of being hit by stray bullet as a result of the sporadic shootings from members of the unions.
The shooting lasted for hours as the union members haunted for one another in the garages.
Western Post News learnt that members of the Auxiliary faction had been positioned in the garages to chase the Fele factions away immediately after the swearing- in exercise of governor Makinde.
Western Post learnt that members of the Fele had vacated the garages for safety, after information of the planned attacked reached them.
It was also learnt that buses of the union members which were parked at strategic points in Ibadan were loaded with guns to scare away and dislodge other factions believed to have served under the Abiola Ajimobi administration.
Some members of the Fele factions who were beaten blue black ran into the neighborhood of the areas for safety.
Some members of the Union who spoke with Western Post News on the issue condemned the development, describing it as uncalled for.
They however called on Governor Seyi Makinde to step into the matter in order to find a lasting solution to the development.
