Oyo Police Parade Sunday Sodipe, Other Criminal Gangs

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded the  Akinyele serial killer, Sunday Shodipe, alongside other suspected criminals who were arrested by the command at various locations across the state.

Shodipe who escaped from police custody on August 11, 2020 confessed he killed another woman after he escaped from detention.

He said, he managed to escape from custody when an Inspector attached to the Divisional Police  Headquarters, Mokola gave him permission to go and take his bath within the premises of the station.

He subsequently attacked one Mrs. Oladeji Funmilayo in her residence at Onireke community Akinyele Ibadan on August 13 2020 and inflicted injury on the woman head and later died at the UCH.

Shodipe said he was arrested at Bodija area in Ibadan by men of the command.

The Commissioner of Police in the state,  CP Joe Nwanchukwu Enwonwu said  Shodipe  alongside other suspects, would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

It was earlier reported that Shodipe, two days after escaping from police custody on August 11, reportedly carried out the killing of Mrs. Funmilayo Oladeji at her home.

When asked where he headed after his escape, he said he went to Akinyele again.

On how he killed the woman, Shodipe said, he used a machete to inflict injuries on her head and left her in the pool of blood.

The CP said the suspect was kept in police custody because of space constraints and COVID-19.

Also, suspects, arrested in connection with the robbery attacks on the Okeho branch of First Bank were paraded.

Those who facilitated how they rented accommodation in the town before the operation and those who were caught taking cash after the robbery operation was also paraded along with them.

Other suspects paraded included house buglers,  some members of a notorious gang of hoodlums who have been terrorizing members of the public within Ibadan metropolis who invaded KENSI community with guns and other dangerous weapons.
