Parents of Conjoin Twins Beg For N30m Donation

Mother of conjoined twins, Mrs Damilola Babayanju has cried out to well-meaning Nigerians, home and in diaspora to help save the lives of her babies as N30million is required to perform surgery on them.

She gave birth to the conjoined twins at a private hospital, Alagbonmejo Poly Clinics and Maternity Home, Igan Alade, Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State on March 20, 2021.

Mrs. Babayanju is a locust beans seller, while her husband is a cab driver. They begged Nigerians, corporate bodies and organisations to assist them raise fund to enable the hospital  perform separation surgery on the twins.

“N30million is what is required to carry out the surgery. I am begging all kind-hearted Nigerians, governments, corporate organisations, religious bodies and others to please in the name of Almighty God help us so that it would be easier for government to do other essentials to rescue the lives of my precious twins,” the distraught mother said amidst sobbing.

The twins were initially transferred to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu on the order of the Ogun State Commissioner for Heath, Dr. Tomi Coker, for further medical examinations to ascertain their health status.

But, as a result of the heath workers’ strike at OOUTH, Ogun State Government again facilitated the transfer of the twins to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LUTH, idi- Araba, where they are being examined further as series of tests are ongoing to determine the actual state of their organs.

”It was this timely intervention of the Ogun state government through the medical examinations done at OOUTH that the cost of operation to separate the cojoined twins would amount to N30million was arrived at.

“We have nothing, to even eat one square meal is now difficult. This is why I and my husband are begging Nigerians for help so that it would be easier to carry out the surgery, ” Babayanju added.
