PDP Chieftain,  Ebhomien Set Ablaze In Edo


Mr. David Ebhomien who is a grassroots politician and a mobilize People Democratic Party (PDP), popularly known as the lion of Edo State politics met his ultimately death when he and other leaders of the party came back from the Local Government Headquarters,  Ekpoma to hold a meeting to strategies for Saturday election.

Thugs led by one Mr Stanley Olobi of All Progressive Congress (APC), a youth leader in the area stormed the meeting venue where PDP leaders were gathered and they forcefully asked all the stakeholders to leave the meeting venue remaining Ebhomien.

They were said to spray the building with petrol, set it ablaze and fired continuously as terrified villagers watched helplessly.

The blood-thirsty thugs waited, shooting and waiting with relish while Ebhomien cried from inside the inferno, with all the doors in the house locked.

Ebhomien was taken to nearby hospital in the neighbouring village at Ebelle Edo State, but due to the degree of burnt Ebhomien was later referred to Irrua Teaching Hospital, Irrua,  Edo State for prompt medical attention but later died the next day Saturday, 9th 2019 which was the election day.

There was a low turnout of voters on the 9th Saturday due to the shocking death of Ebhomien which many referred to as a gentle man and a democratic.

The Edo State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Christ Nehikhare, reacting to the death of Ebhomien, said that it was a masterminded plan of the ruling All Progressive Congress to scared voters from coming out in the Edo Central Senatorial distract due to the party popularity in the zone.

In a mid reaction, the APC in Edo State has broken all – time record in electoral contests in the last Saturday’s House of Assembly election.  It won all the 24 available seats in the assembly as candidates of the APC defeated all the PDP candidates from the results announced by INEC returning officers at various collation centres.

The results of the House of Assembly election was different from the February 23rd Presidential and National Assembly elections in which PDP won with a margin of 7000 votes

In Edo Central that used to be a bastion of PDP, the APC won all the six available seats in the Senatorial Districts.

Mr. Idemudia, who said to witnessed it  said there was serious fight between one of the deceased’s son, Ebhomien of PDP who was the party’s agent in unit 002, Eguare Ujiogba ward 2 and Mr Stanley Olobi on Wenersday,  28th September,  2016 on the day of Edo State gubernatorial election a situation which led voters to run for their life, saying the death of Ebhomien was a shock to the entire Ekpoma and that it was politically motivated.
