By Ibidapo Balogun in Abuja

The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new turn for the worst on Monday afternoon as former Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, stormed the party’s headquarters at Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja and after initial problem he eventually gained entry into the complex.

A detachment of the police force keeping vigil at the complex had initially blocked Sheriff and his entourage from gaining entry but after some telephone contacts, they were later allowed in

In his entourage containing a convoy of over 50 vehicles were former National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and former National Auditor Bodunde Adeyanju.

Sheriff upon gaining entry immediately convened a press conference. He said he remains the chairman of the party following the order of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sheriff resurfaced at the party headquarters after it was thought that the leadership crisis rocking the party had been resolved. Last week, the party’s Board of Trustees had formally handed over the secretariat to Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party.
