Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom on Thursday said that the Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled states are performing well by providing good governance in their various States despite the security and economic challenges facing the country.
Ortom stated this in his speech at the commissioning ceremony of the 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road reconstructed by the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.
He said PDP remained committed to the unity of the country calling on the Federal Government to rise to the challenges of insecurity in Nigeria by providing the required leadership adding that without security, there can be no development
“Let us not lose faith in the Nigeria project, let us work together to surmount the challenges we are faced with today,” he said.
He said it is clear that the All Progressives Congress-led government lacked the capability to govern and therefore called on the PDP Governors to work hard to change the APC-led government in 2023.
Earlier in his address, Governor Makinde said the road is one of the projects that will play a major role in the engineering of a modern Oyo State where the prosperity of the people through economic integration will serve as the fulcrum of our decisions.
He appreciated Governor Ortom for honoring his invitation and as well commiserated with the Benue State Governor over the death of his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Christopher Dega who was murdered few days ago.
According to him the 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road had hitherto been in a deplorable state for several years and serves as the link between Ibadan and Oke-Ogun, Oyo State’s food basket.
“This road also hosts the once-moribund Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt Plant; not only have we resuscitated the plant, but it is already producing asphalt that we use in the building of our roads here in Oyo State,” he said.
