The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Yemi Akinwonmi as the party’s National Chairman bringing to an end the weeks-long spell of former embattled National Chairman, Uche Secondus.
Akinwonmi was the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party.
PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan made the announcement on Thursday after the closed-door meeting of the national working committee (NWC) in Abuja.
Secondus was on Monday ordered by a Rivers State High Court not to parade himself as the national chairman of the PDP.
Ologbodiyan confirmed the rescheduling of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) for Saturday.
“Elder Yemi Akinwonmi was unanimously affirmed as Acting National Chairman.
“We will be holding our caucus and another NWC meeting tomorrow (Friday) preparatory to holding our National Executive Council meeting at 12 ‘O’clock on Saturday,” Mr Ologbondiyan told journalists.
