Aserious drama was played out in Akure at the screening venue of Peoples Democratic Party aspirants in Ondo State as the screening team sent from the National Secretariat of the party headed by Mr. Kenneth Lucky Imasuen refused to show up.

Meanwhile earlier on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, all the aspirants contesting for various political offices in the state had showed up at an hotel located along Alagbaka, Akure the state capital, venue of the screening.

The screening had commenced but later shifted till the next day, Thursday November 20, 2014 at 8 am. The aspirants came from different parts of the state so as to continue from where they stopped only to discover that the screening team had gone back to Abuja allegedly to submit the state Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s list given to them at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure

One of the contestants and the Chairman of the Aspirants’ Forum, Hon. Femi Adekanbi, who is contesting for a seat in the House of representatives lamented that the National Working Committee had again rubbed roughshod into their eyes.

Also, Hon Tolu Babaleye, an aspirant contesting for House of Representatives slot in Akoko South West local government area of the state, said after paying such huge amount of money, the sreening committee came to cajole them and sent them packing.

“I want to emphatically say here that things will boil if nothing is done about this. How can we pay N3m for a form for House of Representatives seat and N5m for Senate and the screening committee will just disappear. No! This can’t be,” he said.

The leaders said after presenting their necessary documents on Wednesday, the chairman of the screening team, Kenneth Imasuen, told them to come back on Thursday because it was getting dark, which they all complied with believing things would be done amicably as said by the team chairman but the reverse proved to be the case on Thursday.
