It was a mild drama at the Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat, Dandaru, Ibadan as the crisis rocking the party in the state took another dimension on Wednesday as political thugs snatched an envelope containing photocopies of the nomination and expression of interest forms as well as original copies of credentials belonging to a House of Representatives aspirant, Kabiru Adesokan from him at the party secretariat.
Adesokan, who was at the party secretariat to undergo a screening exercise, is seeking the party’s ticket to contest election into the House of Representatives to represent Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal constituency.
While speaking with the newsmen after the unfortunate the incident, Adesokan said: “I am here to undergo a screening as requested by the party. As I was alighting from my car, a guy just came from nowhere and snatched the envelope I was holding. The envelope contained original copies of my credentials, photocopies of my nomination and expression of interest forms, my voters’ card, party membership card and other important documents”.
He further said: “I learnt the guy who snatched the documents has been arrested by the police and I am going to the station now to make a formal report. I do not think politics should be played this way, I believe it is a game that should be played maturely.”
While speaking with WESTERN POST through a telephone conversation, the party’s Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Salawu, informed that the matter has been handed over to the police for further investigation as the culprit would be dealt with accordingly after those who are behind the incident are unmasked.
