PDP Will Bounce Back, Says Ihedioha

By Adeola Oladele, Ibadan

Following the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, President Goodluck Jonathan, and the internal wrangling that rocked the party in the wake of the last election, the party has put plans in motion to stage a comeback come 2019 election amid all odds.

This was revealed on Wednesday during the party’s post-election review committee and stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s new secretariat, Aare Avenue, Ibadan.

While speaking at the stakeholders forum, a former deputy speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, stated that the meeting of the South-west zone, which comprises Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos States, was held based on a fact-finding mission, which is aimed at charting a new course for the party ahead of 2019 elections.

He noted that the party would work on the lapses, which occurred within the party in the last elections and try to work on aggrieved former members to woo them back to the party.

Ihedioha recalled that the administration of former President Jonathan witnessed an unprecedented peace in the country, adding that the meeting would afford them the opportunity to review where urgent actions needed to be taken to salvage the great party.

The two-day South-west meeting of the party had in attendance party stalwarts from across the six geo-political zones of the country.
