People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart Engineer Femi Babalola has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim power in Oyo State even as he denied insinuations that he is working against the party’s governorship candidate in the state Senator Teslim Folarin.
Speaking in Ibadan early this week, Babalola, popularly called Jogor, said current trend as regards the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state clearly showed that the days of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)in powers are numbered.
‘’I am so confident that our party will reclaim Oyo State from the APC in the forthcoming elections’’.
Jogor also denied widespread rumours that he and some other aggrieved member of the PDP in Oyo State are only canvassing for support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid while campaigning against Teslim Folarin’s governorship bid.
Bablalola, one of the aspirants who kicked against the emergence of Folarin as the party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial poll due to the irregularities that greeted the party’s primary, said there is no truth in the rumour, assuring that he and other aspirants who stayed back in the party are all backing Folarin.
‘’There are some things that sound illogical to me. If I come to you and tell you to vote for Jonathan, a PDP man for president and tell you not to vote for Folarin another PDP man as governor, won’t I look somehow to you?
‘’Let me tell you, those of us who are still in PDP are all loyal party members and that is why we will supports Folarin because he is our party man’’, stated the business mogul who added that the Folarin for governor campaign train was going on smoothly.
He stated further that Senator Folarin remains his friend adding, ‘’we do talk everyday and we rob minds on issues’’.
Speaking on why he is backing Folarin in-spite of what transpired during the PDP primary in the state, Babalola said his decision was based on number reasons including the fact that he would prefer a younger person to rule the state instead of old people.
‘’Among the lots vying for the position, I would prefer a younger person, and only two of them fall in this category, Seyi Makinde or Folarin.
