The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank Limited, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, has announced his retirement from the service of the bank, effective August 31, 2020, having completed his second two-year tenure at the helm of the bank.
In an emotion-laden farewell message to staff of the bank, Abiru said having served meritoriously in the banking industry for nearly three decades, he had resolved to retire to enable him to contribute his quota in other areas of the society.
Abiru will immediately enlist in politics to enable him take a shot at the senatorial slot for Lagos East District which became vacant following the death of Senator Adebayo Osinowo aka Pepperito who died on June 15 at 64.
The banker is among the strong contenders for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming senatorial by-election in Lagos.
WESTERN POST, however, learned Abiru has already secured the support of the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other leaders of the party in the state and particularly in his Lagos East and Ikorodu hometown for the senatorial seat.
