Police Arrest 10, Speaker, Other Principal Officers Whisk to Abuja

Sequel to the hoodlums attack on the Kogi State House of Assembly on the 1st August,2017, at least fewer than 10 people have been arrested in connection with the dastard  act.

It was also gathered  the Inspector General of Police,  Mr. Ibrahim Idris has invited the new Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly,  Rt. Honourable Prince Matthew Kolawole and two others principal officers of the House to Abuja over the invasion.

The State Assembly was attacked during a plenary session on the 1st of August by some suspected thugs, beat up  Hon. Friday Makama, destroyed assembly chamber and damages vehicles.

Others are Hon. Ahmed Mohammed representing Ankpa 1 state constituency and Hon. Balogun Abdullahi Bello representing Ajaokuta state constituency.

This was in addition to the suspected thugs who stormed the Assembly Complex with dangerous weepons and attacked during the plenary session.

It was learnt that Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrived Lokoja on Wednesday and arrested about 10 suspected thugs who allegedly participated at the Commissioner’s quarters for there  involvement in the attack on assembly.

Sources close to the Kogi State Police Command disclosed that the Speaker and two other members of the assembly were led to Abuja on Thursday afternoonyby the state Police Command.

According to the sources,  the Mopol Commander was demop, while other police officers that were present at the scene during the attack were also transferred from Kogi State.

It was  gathered that the Inspector General of Police after investigating the issue was able to apprehend those involved through video clips that was presented to his office.

Sourcec further hinted  the state Commissioner of Police,  CP Wilson Inalegwu may also be affected as it was gathered that the IG issued him query over the issue.

When newsmen put called on the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilson Inalegwu to confirmed the arrest, he said, “am not awear”, but it is possible that they must have come to pick them without his knowledge.

It would be recalled that the House had on Wednesday in an anticipation of the IG directive, the House  quickly set up 5 man Committee to investigate the attack on the assembly by some suspected thugs.

The Assembly also called for  proper investigation to be carried out by the House for necessary legislative action.
