Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers who invaded a provision shop and dispossessed the owner, one Tope Alabi (not the gospel singer) of a huge sum of money.
A statement by Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the suspects whose names were given as Anu Ibikunle, Rasheed Bisiriyu and Adebowale Dada were arrested on Thursday, July 22 at Oke-Ore area in Atan-Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state
Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested, following a distress call received at Atan-Ota Divisional headquarters at about 9.45 pm on the fateful day that men of the underworld had invaded a provision and drinks shop at Oke Ore area, and the owner had been held hostage.
Acting on the distress call, the state police spokesman stated that the Divisional Police Officer, Abolade Oladigbolu, mobilised his men and moved to the scene.
He added that when the suspects sighted the policemen, the hoodlums, who first attacked the policemen later took to their heels having realised the determination of the police to subdue them.
They were hotly chased and the three of them were subsequently apprehended.
Items recovered from them according to him are one locally made pistol, two live cartridges and assorted dangerous charms.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
The CP also appealed to members of the public to always inform the police on time whenever they noticed any distress situation.
