Kogi State Police Command has arrested notorious syndicate that specialise in kidnapping and criminal activities in Okene and its environs.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Wilson Inalegwu who disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Police Command headquarters in Lokoja on Wednesday, said the police will continue to provide adequately security of lives and property in Kogi State.
Inalegwu explained that as part of the command continuous onslaught against criminal activities such Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Cultism, Cattle Rustling and other violent crime in the State, through a proactive crime preventing strategies, has arrested notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing the State particularly Okene axis.
The Police Commissioner stated that on the 30/08/2017 at about 9am, the ever vigilante Police Officers attached to Okene Division on pin down duty stopped a Gulf Station Wagon, adding that the driver refused to stop and was trying to escape but was given a hot chase by the operatives and eventually intercepted the Car.
He pointed out that the three suspects were arrested, they are Mohammed Abdulrazak ‘m’ 30years of Esomi Quarters, Check point, Yusuf Abona Jafaru ‘m’ 27 years of Oriental Hotel, check point and Iliyasu Yusuf Nyamida ‘m’ 37 years of Idoji Quarters in Okene.
Items recovered from the suspects includes;one Barreta Pistol with six rounds of live ammunition,One Tiger Pistol Revolver with twelve live ammunition,nine hand sets of different types.
Other items are small box containing surgical implements,One HP Laptop and one Ash colour Gulf station wagon Car with Reg. No. EKP 394 EX, Edo.
The suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation, while effort is on top gear to track down other members of the syndicate.
‘The Command will not rest on its Oars until incidents of crime are reduce to it bearest minimum. We have the commitment, and the passion and the zeal to deliver on our mandate in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in Kogi State,” He said.
The Commissioner of Police urged members of the public to continue to partner with the Police and other security agencies so as to make Kogi State the safest State in Nigeria.
