Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release of a farmer kidnapped on his farmland.
The farmer, London Umoru, and his wife were abducted by unknown gunmen on their farmland at Ori-Omi Pupa, Agric, Esa-Oke in Oriade Local Government Area of the state.
His wife, Blessing was said to have escaped from her abductors on December 3 and was found in a forest around Ijebu-Jesa.
It was gathered that Umoru, who was found at Aramoko-Ekiti in Ekiti State last week by security operatives was released after paying an undisclosed amount of money alongside cigarettes and alcoholic drinks.
Confirming the release, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opalola said the police team kept pressure on the abductors before releasing the victim.
She, however, declined comment on payment of ransom.
“It is true police has rescued the man somewhere in Aramoko-Ekiti forest and has been taken to hospital for treatment. I am not aware of the payment of any ransom,” she said
