Senator Teslim Folarin, the 2015 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, has allegedly ordered the removal of an electricity transformer he donated to the residents of Sabo area in Ibadan following his resounding defeat at the just-concluded governorship election in Oyo state.
The former Senate Leader was said to have gotten angry after results from the area he donated the transformer to showed that the majority of the electorate there rejected him at the ballot box Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said they saw two close political associates of the former top lawmaker arrive in a vehicle in the wee hours of Monday to remove the transformer, ignoring concerted pleas for them not to do so.
But this remains yet unconfirmed in Oyo State.
Sabo area of Ibadan is largely inhabited by the Hausa people from the north, it’s not immediately known if the rejection of Folarin and subsequent removal of the transformer by the politician have anything to do with their support for the APC.
Considering the fact that Folarin was the first to concede defeat even as the collation was still underway across the state on Saturday evening, the result from just one suburb wouldn’t have made any discernible difference to his fated bid.
A spokesman for Mr. Folarin did not immediately reply an SMS request for comment from the WESTERN POST.
