President Muhammadu Buhari has described those behind today’s devastating bombing in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as “cowardly murderers that are bent on anarchy.”
Condemning the attack, which was carried out by suspected Boko Haram elements at a mosque near the Main Market area of the city, Buhari said his administration “will not tolerate wanton and willful destruction of lives and properties by criminal elements.”
In a statement signed by Mr. Garba Shehu who currently heads the new administration’s media team, the president added that he was elected to protect the lives and properties of all Nigerians and he’d sworn to do so.
He sympathized with the families of those who were victims of the terrorist attack and promised to equip the military thus it could have the necessary capacity to contain future occurrences.
