President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday night conceded defeat to opposition APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, hours before the results of Saturday’s presidential elections were due to be announced.
The president reportedly called Buhari and congratulated him. He wished him well as the next president.
It was shortly after some members of the National Peace Committee led by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar had visited Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The news of Buhari’s victory has sparked off widespread jubilation across the country.
The president is expected to broadcast to the country anytime soon to accept defeat and openly congratulate General Buhari.
