The Independent National Electoral Commission has given new Permanent Voters’ Cards collection update.
From the update given on Tuesday, the PVC collection has hit 75.8 per cent, up from the initial 66 per cent.
INEC had predicated the postponement of the February elections on the advice from security chiefs, who said they were going to be engaged fighting insurgency in the North-east in the next 6 weeks and as such could not guarantee security for the polls.
Some other people including those close to President Jonathan however put the shift down to PVC collection rate, arguing that about 30 million Nigerians were yet to collect their PVCs then.
Following the new update given by INEC, the states with big PVC collection rate and with big voters base are Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Katsina at 1.3 million and above.
