Ogun Governor, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun has advised over hundreds beneficiaries of Wednesday 27th November 2019 rainstorm disaster in Ibefun, Odogbolu Local Government to receive the relief materials given to them as succour to solve their pains.
The Ogun state governor who was represented by Hon. Commissioner for the ministry of Environment Hon. Abiodun Balogun stated during the official distribution of relief materials to the victims of Ibefun rainstorm disaster at Ibefun Police Station, Odogbolu Local Government on Friday organised by Ogun State Management Agency (SEMA).
Abudu, explained that on 27th November, 2019 over 100 houses were destroyed and both old and young residents were affected. As a responsive and caring governor, Prince Abiodun and his entourage visited the community to witness the ugly incident and to sympathized with the people of Ibefun over the disaster and mandate was given to SEMA.
He said, “as a report to that SEMA was here on Friday 29th November, 2019 to undertake the proper assessment of the areas affected by the rainstorm disaster.
“Assessment forms were distributed to the victims and returns assessment forms received from the victims of the disaster were later collated and rhe list of the victims derived from the returned assessment forms received by SEMA ”
He added that “it is very important to mention that the motive behind government intervention in this kind of situation is never to completely solve the pains of the victims of such disaster, but to provide succour to the victims and let them knows that government indeed felt their plight.”
He enjoined them to receive whatever is being given to them as a token from the government because of the essence if the intervention was to provide succour to the victims.
Speaking also, Director for SEMA, Mr Ige Folarin thanked the government of the state led by Prince Abiodun for urgent response to give back to affected victims.
SEMA Director said the Items might be able solve all their problems but, it will go along ways.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Sobukola Teresa appreciated the governor for his wonderful remembers.
She said it shows that governor Abiodun keeps to all promises made to the good people of the state during electioneering campaigns.
Items donated include Mattress, roofing sheets, bags of cement, foodstuff and others
