The Divisional Police Officer attached to Osiele Police Post in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr. John Mafoya, is being detained at the Ogun State Police Command, Abeokuta over allegation of multiple rape of a Primary Education Studies (PES) student of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Miss Oluwaseun Adura Bakare.
Another yet-to-be resolved petition involving forced sex relation with another student of the college, Miss Folashade Adekunle, is said to be hanging on ASP Mafoya’s neck following the alleged abduction and rape of the student in the Economic and Political Science Department of the college.
Folashade’ father, Mr. Owolabi Mutiu Adekunle, had sent a strongly-worded petition to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, alleging that ASP Mafoya abducted and forcefully had canal knowledge of her student-daughter in the college.
The case involving Miss Bakare began unfolding when she was on April 30 this year detained at the Osiele Police Post over her involvement in a group assault of a youth corps member, Mr. Kareem Oladimeji Alaba, who was said to have made romantic advances at her during her visit to the youth corps member’s residence at Arokoje Village in Abule-Obantoko in Abeokuta.
Mr. Mafoya reportedly capitalised on Miss Bakare’s adverse turn of event and ordered her detention. He personally took over the case and at about 7 pm on the fateful day brought out hapless Oluwaseun from the cell, drove her to his residence at Alanco in Abeokuta and forcefully had sex with her.
Mafoya brought her victim back to the police post and at 10.30 pm again raped her in his (ASP’s) office before returning her to rue all-night over her compounding problems.
The student colleagues of detained Oluwaseun were said to have raised N3,000 as bail bond the following day for the release of their traumatised friend.
Though Oluwaseun, cowed beyond description, did not incident the sordid rape encounter with Mr. Mafoya at her college’s security unit, she instinctively and cleverly recorded the conversations with her assailant on her cell phone.
The matter would have died naturally had it not for the milk of humanness in Corporal Lukman in the Osiele Police Post.
The police corporal was so irked at the ASP’s criminal act and professional misconduct that he exposed the matter to the Divisional Police Officer at Odeda, Abeokuta, Superintendent of Police (Supol) Oluwalana, who again brought the matter before the Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr. Valentine Ntomchukwu.
The Ogun State police boss reportedly ordered detailed investigation into the matter, which brought Miss Bakare and her tormentor-in-chief, ASP Mafoya, face-to-face at the commissioner’s instance.
Specifically on May 11, 2015, Supol Oluwalana breezed into the college in Osiele requesting that Oluwaseun be made available for an interview with the state police commissioner.
Sulking Oluwaseun was accompanied to the police command by one of her college’s security officers.
Compol Ntomchukwu reportedly ordered the detention of Mr. Mafoya and directed the investigating police officer, Sergeant Johnson, to file his findings within three days.
It is suspected that the ASP would be made to fully account for his misdeed shortly.
