Sequel to the alleged raping of a 300 level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko by a soldier at a checking point, the Nigerian Army, according to Westernpost investigation has sacked the alleged soldier.
Our correspondent gathered that the alleged solider was handed over to the police for prosecution.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph explained to our correspondent that the alleged rapist is in police custody.
Though he could not confirm if the soldier had been sacked by the military, the police PRO said investigations are ongoing.
He was optimistic that the suspect would be arraigned in court.
The student who is of the Department of Religious and African Studies of the university was reportedly raped by the soldiers at an army checkpoint located on Ikare Akoko road.
The student was allegedly forced to alight from a commercial bus by one of the soldiers, lance corporal, who ordered the driver and other passengers to leave.
She was then taken into a military cubicle at the back of checkpoint, where she was allegedly assaulted sexually.
She was returning from the school campus on her way home, along with her other school mates when she was attacked.
