Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has said the destruction of oil installations by a new militant group called Niger Delta Avengers are neither in the interest of the country nor of the region, saying those facilities are national assets as well as Niger Delta assets.
Oshiomhole spoke with State House Correspondents after visiting President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president is scheduled to travel to Niger Delta on Thursday to begin the cleaning up of the region ravaged by pollution from oil exploration activities.
In the interview monitored on Channels Television, the governor called on the militants not to destroy opportunities for investments in the region by their activities.
Oshiomhole also called on leaders of the South-South to rise against the activities of the militant group.
