The Nigerian military has handed over the rescued Chibok school girl, Amina Ali, to the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, said that Ali was airlifted by the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) Super Puma aircraft from Damboa to Maiduguri alongside her baby and supposed husband, Mohammed Hayatu.
Prior to that, Usman said they were examined at Air Force medical facility and were found to be stable and normal blood pressure was observed.
He said that the rescued girl was hereafter released to the Operation Lafiya Dole Headquarters in Maiduguri, for further investigation and handing over.
“After preliminary investigation, the rescued girl and her baby have been handed over to Borno State Governor, Kashim Shetima, at Government house, Maiduguri this (Wednesday) evening by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in a brief ceremony,” he stated.
Usman also disclosed that the Chibok girl would be brought to Abuja on Thursday along with her parents to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also said the supposed husband was undergoing further investigation at Joint Intelligence Centre.
The DAPR noted that Mohammed Hayatu was well treated in line with Operation Lafiya Dole Rules of Engagement regarding insurgents who voluntarily surrender to the military.
Amina Ali with a baby and her supposed husband was found by members of civilian JTF at the edge of Sambisa Forest on Wednesday.
