Residents of Gaa-Odota in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara state have called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to reconstruct the state’s deplorable road.
The road which links the Mandate Ultra-modern Market to the Akitu road, Hajj Camp road and the airport road, served as the alternative route during the construction of the Geri-Alimi diamond underpass, under Alhaji Abdulfatah.
A resident who wished to remain anonymous, said the community has tried its best to patch the road without fruition. He lamented about the erosion getting worse day-by-day, though filled with broken pieces of rock. He appealed to governor AbdulRazaq to come to the aid of the community before the road is completely damaged by the flood.
“This road was plied when the Geri-Alimi underpass was under construction and now the road is critically bad. As a community, there is little to what we can do. We call on our governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to help us fix it before the road is cut off, ” he said.
Another resident, Hajia Ali frowns at the bad condition of the road, as well as, the dumping of refuse by the roadside.
She urged the authorities to provide bins for the proper disposal of waste within the community. Similarly, a shop owner disclosed that early this year, a truck offloaded granites but, a few days later the granites disappeared. He also said, some individuals came to measure the road and never showed up again. Finally, he urged Governor AbdulRazaq to help the community.
Meanwhile, all efforts by our correspondent to get the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Rotimi Suleiman’s reaction proved abortive as several calls and messages sent to him went unreplied.
