RIVERS State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has dissolved the State Independent Electoral Commission and the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission over misconduct.
The dissolution of the two government parastatals came barely few hours after the State House of Assembly passed a vote of no confidence on the commissions and had directed the governor to dissolve them.
Wike, in a statement, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, stated that the Governor acted in line with the directive of the State House of Assembly on grounds of official misconduct levelled against the commissions.
The House had summoned the chairmen and members of the commissions to give account of their activities within the last two years.
The lawmaker, who were apparently dissatisfied over the explanation of the head of the two commissions on Monday, empowered the New Governor to sack the commissioners and dissolve the commissions.
