Rivers Rerun Election Inconclusive

The rerun election into three Senatorial, six House of Representatives and some state assembly seats in Rivers State has been declared inconclusive.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the election in six local government areas following massive violence.

Five of the six local governments are in Rivers South Senatorial District.

It is not clear yet when the election would hold in the areas.

As the poll opened, there were reports of violence and skirmishes here and there including Gokana.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Government said it was alarmed by the massive deployment of soldiers for the election.
