Oluode Market, a popular market in Osogbo metropolis was on Tuesday thrown into mourning as Seven people including five traders were said to have died in a motor accident that occurred at a village near Oyo and Osun State boundary in the midnight of Monday.
The accident, according to traders in the market occurred at Arolu village in Surulere Local Government of Oyo State.
The truck was returning to Osogbo, Osun State capital from Kaiama, Kwara State where they went to buy yam flour which they are selling in the market.
It was gathered that the driver of the truck and the conductor died with the five traders, who are owners of the yam flour.
The traders who are mainly women were said to have left Oluode market about three days ago to buy goods in Kwara State.
Investigation revealed that the load of the yam flour fell on the traders who were said to be sleeping on the goods.
The accident victims were first taken to the state government hospital, Asubiaro in Osogbo before they were transferred to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, Jaleyemi, Osogbo.
Visit to Jaleyemi Catholic hospital, Osogbo, where others were receiving treatment revealed that many traders are still in coma.
All efforts to speak with the management of the hospital proved futile as they refused to speak to the press.
