Robbers Attack First Bank, Kill Eight Police Officers in Kogi

At least eight police officers and a woman were killed by a daredevil armed robbery gang in Isanlu, Yagba East Local government area of the Kogi State.

The incident which occurred at about 12 pm in the afternoon on Thursday sent the whole community in pandemonium as everybody was running for their lives.

An eye witness told Western Post that a large number of armed robbers had stormed Isanlu Community to rob one old generation, First Bank in the town, firstly attacked the police station.

It was gathered that at the police station the suspected armed robbers had used dynamite to bomb the Divisional police station killing the Divisional Police officer and seven others.

It was learned after the successful attacked on the Police Station, the daredevil robbers moved to the old generation bank (First Bank )and opened fire and killed a woman who came to transact business in the bank.

While the operation was on, the people of Isanlu Community were running for cover.

Meanwhile, a video of the incident that has gone viral on social Media, the bodies of the slain police officers littered the ground,  while the Divisional Police Station was shattered by the explosion.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ayah when contacted to confirm, said that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police , CP Ayuba Ede had deployed Anti Robbery Squad to Isanlu. .

He pointed out the Deputy Commissioner police operation has also been deployed to the community.

He stressed that investigation into the incident will commence immediately.
