Rotary Club Of Egbe Plants Tree In 3 Schools

The President, Rotary Club of Egbe, Rotarian Calista Akubuo, led members of the club to plant trees in three schools within Alimosho and Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Areas, Lagos State, on Monday.

This was in commemoration of the Tree Planting exercise by Rotary International, District 9110 Nigeria tagged: “Planet Earth.”

Akubuo said the club decided to go beyond its community to carry out the tree planting exercise in a nearby local government where the trees are needed.

She stated that Rotary International added tree planting to its curriculum three years ago as a way to support the world’s tree planting exercise.

“Tree planting is one of the areas of focus in Rotary and it is mandatory that in every Rotary year, club’s President lead his or her members to carry out a tree planting project.

“We chose Ikotun Senior High School, Unity Nursery and Primary School, Egbe and Oke-Afa Junior College, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area to carry out this Rotary year trees Planting exercise,” Akubuo said.

Akubuo advised the schools Principals, Head Teachers, pupils and students to nurture the trees and flowers planted and see them growing on daily basis.

The Principal, Ikotun Senior High School, Mrs. Abimbola Oyedele, appreciated the club for the gesture, noting that the project will beautify the school when it’s started growing.

The Principal, Oke-Afa Junior College and the Head Teachers, Unity Nursery and Primary School, Egbe Mrs. Olanike Iyunade and Mrs. Olubunmi Sokoya also appreciated the club for choosing their schools for Rotary year 2021/2022 trees planting exercise.
