An official of the Kwara State Zonal Office of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Olumide Solomon has emphasized the need for commercial drivers to be careful always while driving as well as keep obeying traffic regulations and Road Safety guidelines given the values attached to their lives and that of their beloved ones.

He said this while delivering a sensitization lecture organized by the Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA to mark the year 2020 Literacy and Basic Education month.

The sensitization lecture, which was organized for commercial drivers at Offa Garage Ilorin, offered ample opportunities to the resource person to explain in details the way and manners professional drivers are expected to conduct themselves while on the road as it is been done in other civilized climes.

Solomon urged drivers to avoid some dangerous driving manners such as overspending, overloading, drinking of alcohol before, during and after driving, adding that going for regular medical check-ups to ascertain their true state of health is also very helpful.

Rotary International is a non-governmental organization. An organization recognized across the world with many core areas of focus for which Basic Education and Literacy is one of them. This is because the rotary believes basically in the fact that education is the basic key to national development, hence September is the month designated by rotary international for Basic Education and Literacy.

The sensitization lecture turned out to be very educating and engaging as participants took time to ask several salient questions that border on their experiences on the road for which many of the grey areas were carefully addressed by the resource person to the satisfaction of all.

The event which featured the presentation of a certificate to the resource person and the Road Safety Zonal Office also had in attendance the club’s President, Rotarian Peter Ajayi Oddiah, Past President Alabi Amuda PHF+1, Past President Ayodeji Adesina Olagunju, Rotarian Doctor Isaac Oludipe, Rotarian Hellen Oyadele, Rotarian Titilayo Faseyi, the leadership of the Road Union, drivers and other distinguished Rotarians.
