There was commotion on Thursday in the House of Representatives over the distribution of the remaining leadership positions.
The House has been torn down the line over whether to respect the decision of the governing All Progressives Congress to fill the remaining position and the demand by some members loyal to Speaker Yakubu Dogara to let the various caucuses in the House fill the position.
Following the development, the matter of House Leader which appeared to have been ceded to former Minority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos State, who lost to Dogara in the speakership election is now being hotly contested.
The House South-south and North-Central caucuses are kicking against Gbajabiamila as House Leader saying the South-west has already produced Deputy Speaker.
APC Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun had written to the Speaker telling him the party’ choice for the remaining House positions-House Leader, Deputy House Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Whip.
But the pro-Dogara lawmakers are kicking against this.
More details later.
