AMIDST glitz and glamours, Samsung Electronics Company Limited has launched its latest edition of smartphone and health monitor device, Galaxy S5 and Gear 2.
   The event held at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel in Victoria Island Lagos, paraded technology savvy experts, kings and queens of Africa’s television screen, journalists, and representatives of Samsung from Senegal, Cameroun, Ghana and Kenya and smartphone admirers.
  Coordinated by Samsung ambassadors, Banky W. and Kate Hensaw, the product was unveiled in a very creative manner after a life performance by the invited Nigerian female musician
  The highlight of the smartphone is a new fingerprint scanner, which is integrated with the device’shome button and provides  consumers  with  a  safe,  biometric  screen-locking feature.  For  fitnessenthusiasts, the Galaxy S5 comes with a heart  rate sensor that  helps monitor heart  rate duringexercise  and fitness  routines  using the S  Health  service.  The new S health  application  boastsdifferent fitness management applications that allow users to stay fit the smart way.Other key features of the Galaxy S5 include an advanced camera system, improved battery capacityand a download booster that can fuse the device’s Wi-Fi and data connections together to providesmoother internet connectivity. Its unique ultra-power saving mode shuts down all of the device's keyfunctions to allow users make the most of their last bit of battery power. According to Samsung, theGalaxy S5 can run for up to 24 hours on a 10 percent battery charge when this mode is activated.
  While addressing the audience, Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Brovo Kim said the latest technologicaal device was an innovative design put in place to further remove all the possible limitations and barriers a man could experience in its quest to exploit his world.
  According to him, Samsung’s commitment to constantly use technological innovations to solve people’s problems brought about the manufacturing of the latest smartphone the world is about to experience.
  While explaining Samsung’s commitment to satisfy it customers across the world, Kim said the Galaxy S5 will redefine how technology innovation enhances quality of life.
  “With the Galaxy S5, Samsung is going back to basics to focus on delivering capabilities that matter most to our consumers. Consumers today are on the lookout for mobile tools that inspire and support them as they improve their everyday lives. The Galaxy S5 represents an iconic design with essential and useful features that focus on delivering the ultimate smartphone on the market today through people-inspired innovation.” he said.
  With a rating of IP67, Galaxy S5 can sit in 1 meter (3.3 ft) of water for 30 minutes and keep on ticking. It also means that you can now use your GS5 while you’re in the shower or bath, or even poolside or in a hot tub, without any worries.
  The Galaxy S5’s home button doubles as a fingerprint scanner, which implies that if the fingerprint security is set up, a swipe down over the home button will unlock your (otherwise) password-protected device, giving the user a maximum security.
  Users can also use the fingerprint scanner to log into PayPal and authorize PayPal or Samsung Apps purchases.
  Four per cent bigger than S4, Galaxy S5 has 3seconds speed at taking picture, the world’s fastest at the moment and the heart rate sensor, which takes up to 10-15 minutes to read, helps regulate heartbeat during physical exercise.
    Also on display at the event were brand new additions to Samsung’s wearable-technology line-up, the  Gear 2  and  Gear  Fit,  offering  consumers  enhanced  connectivity  alongside  an  integrated communication experience. 
  The  Gear  2,  an  upgrade  of  Samsung’s  original  Gear  device, incorporates a 1.63-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera that is now located on the device’s screen, a sensor  that  enables  usage of  the device as a  television  remote  control  and a  personal  fitness coaching guide. The device also comes with a range of changeable straps and interface themes that lets wearers create their own style, with a choice of colours including Charcoal Black, Mocha Greyand Wild Orange.
   Samsung also launched a series of products from its successful Galaxy range recently. Key among these was the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, a more affordable yet premium, dual-SIM variant of the wave-making Galaxy Note 3 device.
  Like other devices in the Galaxy Note series, the latest offering comes with an S Pen and offers features like Air Command, Easy Clip, Multi Window and S Note. The Galaxy Note 3 Neo also features preloaded apps including Samsung Apps, Samsung ChatON, Samsung WatchON, Screen Mirroring, S Voice, S Health, Group Play, Air View, and S Translator, among others.
