Wife of the Governor of Lagos state, Dr Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu on Friday assures a better deal for the girl child in Lagos state. Mrs Sanwo-Olu made this statement at a press briefing on the forthcoming National Women’s Conference of Committee of Wives Of Lagos State Officials, COWSOL.
In her address ,Mrs Sanwo-Olu said this year’s conference comes up on October 22 to October 24 with the theme ‘Unlearn,Learn And Relearn:21st Century Women’s T.H.E.M.E.S’ , noting that it is in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s idea for a better Lagos.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu said the conference is to strategically empower women to contribute positively to the development of the state and Nigeria at large, noting that eminent Nigerians and outstanding professionals have being invited for the Nineteenth edition of COWSOL.
Notable Nigerians expected at COWSOL include,Hajiya Aisha Bihari,Wife of the President of Nigeria who has graciously accepted to be the Mother of the day and would declare the conference open. Hover AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara state is the special guest of Honour at the opening ceremony, while his counterpart from Nasarawa State Governor , Abdullahi Sule is the special guest of honour at the closing ceremony.
The conference which will be streamed live will give viewing opportunities to those who are not physically present.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu while addressing the press said an award would be presented to an Inspirational woman of the year, while certificate of appreciation will be given to individuals and corporate sponsors.
Part of the event lined up to make this year’s COWSOL conference memorable include an awareness walk on Saturday October 12,from Ikeja Local Government back to the office of the Wife of the Governor of Lagos, at Lagos House.
Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu will also pay a courtesy visit with the COWSOL team to the Children and Post Natal Wards of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital ,LASUTH on October 12.
This year’s planning committee is headed by Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello,who has done a lot to ensure that this year’s edition is hugely successful.
