*Speaker tasks executive members to block revenue leaking holes
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday signed the 2020 Appropriation Bill into law. The Governor of Lagos State assured that his administration hopes to achieve over 90 percent budget performance at the end of the year.
The 2020 budget of N1.168 trn is 34 percent higher than the 2019 budget. Sanwo-Olu who signed the budget in the presence of the Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Hon Mudasiru Obasa, stated that with the budget in the kitty, the executive would be fired up to provide the greatest good for the greatest Lagos residents.
He was optimistic that with the budget the number of quality of lives in the city would be better.
Sanwo-Olu added that 2020 would be a prosperous and peaceful year for all Lagosians. He implored all members of the executive to work to ensure that the budget is fully implemented, noting this is how the over 20 million residents of the state would be happy and have a voice.
He added that they must know that the work just started as this is the administration’ first budget.
Obasa commended the governor and his team for sending a quality budget to the house as it was less cumbersome in engaging.
He also noted that the budget is one that cared for all segment of the society. He termed it a budget for all.
The speaker urged all members of the executive to ensure the ministries, departments and agencies under them are very active and alive in terms of revenue generation. He implored them to block all revenue leaking holes.
He said this is important if the budget would be implemented and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
Obasa however said the Governor and his team are up to the task.
