As the Senate resumes today (Tuesday), Senate President Bukola Saraki is to officially unveil the list of ministerial nominees forwarded to the Senate last Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The screening of the nominees will begin on Wednesday and the Senate has said the screening will be thorough and will not follow in the bow-and-go fashion the nation has been treated with in the past.
The list of the nominees is said to contain 21 names as it has emerged that the nominees will be sent to the Senate in batches.
Touted to be on the present ministerial list are names like former Lagos State governor Raji Fashola, former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Nwabueze Ngige, Chief Adebayo Shittu, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Hajiya Alhassan, Mallam Malami and NNPC Managing Director Ibe Kachikwu.
President Buhari has indicated that he would man the Petroleum portfolio himself.
Ahead of the screening of the would-be ministers, there was confusion in the Senate as Senators were of the opinion that since President Buhari is a ministerial nominee, he too ought to appear before the Senate for screening and confirmation.
