Saraki’s Loyalists Speak on His 2019 Presidential Ambition

By Mosunmola Ayobami,Kwara
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said he will soon take a decision on his future political ambition. He said just as he had been vindicated in respect of the false asset declaration case preferred against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, he would be victorious in whatever he sets out to do in 2019.
Saraki said his present position as Senate President was ordained by God as a result of his efforts in bringing the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) to power.
The Senate President stated these on Friday in Ilorin while addressing APC stalwarts over his recent victory at the Code of Conduct Tribunal
‎Saraki went down memory lane, thanking God for his victory and the Emir of Ilorin, clerics, party elders, women and youths for their support during his trial at the court.
He said: “I want to thank God and women specially because when it all started we said it here that we will come back here to praise him. That we are doing now. I thank the Emir of Ilorin, and all of you for your presence in court, all Alfas, we stood by God. We thank him for the victory we enjoyed.
“God gave us this post. When some people called me during my trial to resign I said no, we all know our efforts which brought this government to power. What is remaining before us will be settled like the CCT trial. We will come again to thank him,” he said.
The former Kwara State governor promised more dividends of good governance for youths, women and elders in the state.
Also speaking, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani, described the event a thanksgiving day for all and to offer prayers to God to continue to uplift our party leader. Senator Saraki.
Fulani said the emergence of Saraki as president of the 8th Senate has increased the status of the Senate, which has made Kwarans know that Saraki is a mover, shaker and most influential politician in Nigeria.
The one-time Kwara State House of Assembly member said roads connecting communities in Kwara had been rehabilitated while electricity, water supply are being enjoyed within and outside the state.
“Let those who want to appeal go and appeal. When Tinubu (Asiwaju) was vindicated at the CCT, nobody appealed. When Atiku (Abubakar) was vindicated, no one appealed. When Buhari (President Muhammadu)’s certificate saga was settled, nobody ‎appealed. Why now that its Saraki? Haba! Let them appeal, we know it will be thrown into bin,” he said.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed on Political Matters, Alhaji Bibire Ajape, urged the Senate president to thank the women who never slept day and night and were going from Sobi Hill to another hill offering prayers for his victory at the CCT.
He thanked God that no accident was recorded on the part of stalwarts mobilized to Abuja to attend the trail.
On Saraki’s 2019 presidential ambition, Ajape said God who did it for Obasanjo, Sonekan and others, will do for Saraki too.
He said by 2019, the suffix ‘Senate’ before his present title of Senate President would be removed, leaving only president, with which he would be addressed.
He said anyone fighting Saraki was fighting all Kwarans, adding that all previous National Assemblies combined have not done what the 8th Assembly under Saraki’s leadership has done.
Ajape pleaded with ‎Senate President to re-introduce free Mecca and lesser Hajj for Kwara residents, which he was doing before Federal government stole the idea.
In the same vein, the Youths Leader and state APC Women Leader, commended the Senate President for the employment, empowerment and for fast-tracking the well-being of  Kwara youths irrespective of party affiliations, which they said made the beneficiaries key into Saraki’s federal policies.
