Saraki’s Trial: Judge Recuses Self from Case

0

Justice R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly recused himself from the false assets declaration case against Senator Bukola Saraki.

Mr. Saraki, the Senate President, had approached the court two weeks ago to quash his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The judge reportedly asked the Chief Justice of Nigeria to assign the case to another judge, citing “negative reports” as the pretext for his action.

The judge is said to be piqued by an online report which alleged that he had granted an order for the stoppage of Saraki’s trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The report had gone viral on the internet.

Meanwhile, the trial of the Senate President is to resume on October 21, 22 and 23 at the CCT.
