The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education in Ondo State, Mrs. Lola Amuda has warned school principals in the state not to collect more than the N10,000 stipulated fees on pupils as resumption draws closer.
Amuda gave the warning when Akure Elites Club paid her a courtesy call in her office in Akure.
She said that the warning became imperative against the spate of extortion by school principals in the state.
She said: “The ministry has received several petitions from parents and guardians across the state on how some school principals do impose unauthorized fees on students seeking admission into government schools.
“The ministry has received more than enough petitions from parents on the attitudes of school principals and we have determined to deal decisively with anyone caught in bringing the name of the government into the mud.
“Government is preparing to put all machineries in motion to arrest and prosecute anyone or group of principals involve in the evil act, who never consider the hardship parents are facing and as well trying to sabotage the efforts of the governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu”
While responding, the President of the Association, Comrade Shina Adelusi appreciated the efforts of the government and the ministry for the gestures in making life bearable for the citizens.
He said that the people of the state will be happy if school principals could be curtailed.
