Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos State, the proposed venue of the Yoruba Nation rally has been taken over by the police and other security agencies.
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are also stationed at the Park.
The state Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, is personally coordinating his men at the venue with scores of patrol vans, heavy anti-riot gun trucks and Black Marias to show the seriousness attached to the issue.
Despite warnings by the Police that no rally would be allowed in Lagos, the Yoruba Nation agitators had insisted yesterday that their rally would go ahead and admonished the police to ensure that it was not hijacked.
But the show of force at the proposed rally may have forced a rethink as no Yoruba nation agitator has been seen at the venue.
Vehicular movement and business activities have also not been interrupted along the axis.
