Security Threat: Over 400 Shanties, Illegal Structures Pave Way in Ogun

In its bid to curb security threat posed by structures miscreants government has demolished over 400 such Abeokuta -Sagamu Expressway and Sagamu-Ore road.

Addressing newsmen on the sidelines of the exercise at Sagamu/expressway, Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, said, ” illegal were on the increase and had become security criminals hideouts. Indiscriminate parking of trailers and erection punishable offence under the law of State, responsibility of the Governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is to protect lives and property of citizens’’ which she said the Governor would not compromise.”

While noting that the decision to rid the areas of illegal structures was reached Council meeting said the responsibility to implement fell within the purview of her ministry.

“Owners of the shanties and illegal structures served quit notice and later the areas affected marked for demolition long before the exercise”, she said submitted would environment, she however revealed government’s plan to build malls and rows of shops in the affected areas to curb indiscriminate structures.

Sokefun advised people of the State to constructions which undermines the urban renewal government, saying pleasure buildings.
