Senior staff in the Ministry of Education, Oyo State Secretariat has tested positive for COVID-19.
Confirming the new case to Western Post in a telephone chat, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Mrs. Atere said the infected staff has been taken to the isolation Centre in Ibadan, adding that measures have been put in place control the further spread of COVID-19 in the ministry.
She said the infected person was discovered last week.
It would be recalled that work officially resumed on Monday at the secretariat following the directives of the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.
Already, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 988. The state also discharged nine patients from its isolation centre after being tested negative twice.
Meanwhile, 14 cases were discovered in Lagelu local government, Saki west 12, Oyo 9, Ido 7, Oluyole 6, Ibadan South west 6, Ibadan North 5, Ibadan South East 4, Egbeda 4, Ibadan North East 3, Ibadan North West 2, Akinyele 2, Ona Ara 1 and Afijio 1.
